Special Education
School District Six provides special services in each of the district’s buildings for either IDEA eligible students, and those eligible for accommodations and/or services under Section 504. All special services reflect a collaboration between general and special education staff.
Services are determined on an individual basis, and seek to provide eligible students with disabilities an educational experience focused on skill development and access to the general education curriculum. All students with disabilities will be included in the general education program to the maximum extent appropriate, while still addressing the individual needs of the student as determined by the child’s IEP team.
All related services are available to eligible students, and may include such things as Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Physical Therapy, Counseling, and Transportation, to name a few. Related services shall be determined by the student’s IEP team.
School District Six provides special services for eligible students, ages 3-19, as well as for eligible private school students who reside with the boundaries of the district. In addition, the District collaborates with West Glacier School to provide special education and related services to eligible students who attend that school.
